Graffiti artists have turned the Soviet War Memorial in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia into comicbook superheroes. A colourful collective, consisting of: Superman, Captain America, Wolverine, The Joker, Robin, Wonder Woman, Santa Claus and Ronald McDonald, have replaced the grimfaced military figures at the monument's base - with the flag daubed with the US stars and stripes. The controversial bronze sculpture, honouring the Red Army's World War II advance on Nazi-allied Bulgaria, has been the subject of great debate between pro-Russia and anti-communist factions within Bulgaria.
